In my post a couple of days ago, I said:
Tom Daschle, Obama’s appointment for Secretary of Health and Human Services, withdrew because of backtaxes he owed. Nancy Killefer, Obama’s appointment for a new post concerning government transparency, witdrew her name because of tax issues. Lastly, Tim Geithner, who was confirmed, now serves as the Secretary of the Treasury and oversees the IRS. Geithner also had not paid his taxes.
And now I’m having to add to that already-ridiculous list. Ron Kirk, Obama’s appointment for U.S. Trade Representative, owes $9,975 in back taxes, too. Is this some sort of exclusive club? Do politicians all over the country get together and collude on how they can avoid paying the very taxes they vote for and enforce? This is the most obtuse thing I have ever read–how can FOUR SEPERATE APPOINTMENTS have backtax problems? Is no one even doing background checks on these appointments?
So remember, next time the IRS calls you because you owe backtaxes–mention that you’d like to be considered for a position in Obama’s administration. They’ll put you on the fast track.
